Lovella Jewelry Joins the Cause for Abandoned Animals in Puerto Rico

Aug 5, 2024

Hello everyone,

At Lovella Jewelry, we firmly believe in giving back to our community and supporting those who need it the most. We are excited to announce our new solidarity initiative in collaboration with several animal shelters in Puerto Rico. Each month, we will donate all proceeds from our new solidarity bracelet to a different organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and adopting abandoned pets on the island.

The Reality of Abandoned Animals in Puerto Rico

In Puerto Rico, there are approximately 500,000 dogs and over a million cats living on the streets. These animals face a daily struggle to survive, and many nonprofit organizations work tirelessly to help them. Here are some of the organizations we will collaborating with:

  • Second Chance Animal Rescue: Founded in 2000, this organization rescues, rehabilitates, and secures permanent homes for abandoned and abused dogs in Puerto Rico. Despite challenges like Hurricane Maria and constant earthquakes, they continue to provide shelter and medical care to animals in need (scarpr).

  • Save the Satos: This organization has a three-part mission: rescuing "Satos" (street dogs) from Puerto Rico, helping local pet owners with essential resources, and running capture, neuter, and release programs to reduce the stray population (Save the Satos).

  • Amigos de los Animales (ADLA): ADLA rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes abused and abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico. They also promote humane animal treatment through low-cost sterilization and vaccination events and educational programs (Amigos de los Animales PR).

  • El Faro de los Animales: Since 2001, this organization has rescued, rehabilitated, and found homes for over 3,000 animals. They also offer educational programs to encourage responsible and compassionate animal care (El Faro de los Animales).

  • Angels for Animals PR: Dedicated to animal protection and welfare, this organization focuses on education about the importance of vaccinations, sterilization, and humane treatment. They also seek funds to cover veterinary care costs and support other rescue organizations (Angels for Animals Puerto Rico).

  • Rabito Kontento: Founded in 2012, Rabito Kontento rescues, rehabilitates, and adopts out abandoned animals in Puerto Rico. They also run community programs such as educational talks, therapy dog visits, and "Pancitas Kontentas" to feed street animals (RabitoKontento) (RabitoKontento) (RabitoKontento).

Testimonials and Success Stories

We would like to share with you some touching stories of the animals that have been rescued thanks to your support:

Brian's Story: Brian is an 8-year-old dog, vaccinated and neutered. He was rescued with open and painful wounds on the sides of his face, filled with pus. The cause of his suffering was a severe ear infection that had blocked his ear canals to the point of erupting through his face. Thanks to the donations and the excellent work of the Rabito Kontento team, Brian is now waiting for a family to enjoy his company (RabitoKontento).

Milo's Story: Milo, a schnauzer, lived in inhumane conditions. His bowls were always empty and filled with ants, and his fur was so matted that he couldn't open his eyes. He spent days and nights on a second floor, without food, water, or the basic care that any living being deserves. Thanks to the intervention of the Puerto Rico Municipal Police, Milo has been rescued and is now under the care of his rescuers. Milo's eyes are finally free from pain and ready to see the world differently.
